Visa & Wealth Certification

Checklist: Documents Required for a Net Worth Certificate for Student Visas

CA Pardeep Jha 3 min read

Applying for a student visa to Canada, the UK, Australia, or the US? Getting your university acceptance letter is only half the battle. The biggest hurdle for most students in Punjab is the financial screening.

You must prove to immigration officers that your family has the solid financial capacity to pay your tuition and living expenses. The most powerful way to prove this is through a Net Worth Certificate issued by a practicing Chartered Accountant.

But what exactly do you need to show your CA to get this certificate? Here is the ultimate checklist from Pardeep Jha & Associates.

What is a CA Net Worth Certificate?

A Net Worth Certificate is not just a bank statement. It is a formal, consolidated document stamped and signed by a certified Chartered Accountant. It calculates the total value of your family’s assets (what you own) minus your liabilities (what you owe) to present a clear, undisputed picture of your wealth to the embassy.

The Ultimate Visa Document Checklist

To ensure your certificate is accurate and processed quickly, gather the following documents before visiting your CA:

1. Liquid Assets (Cash & Bank)

  • Latest 6-month bank statements for all savings and current accounts.
  • Fixed Deposit (FD) receipts and current balance statements.

2. Movable Assets (Investments & Gold)

  • Statements for Mutual Funds, Shares, and Bonds (current market value).
  • Public Provident Fund (PPF) or EPF passbooks.
  • Gold Valuation Certificate from a registered jeweler (crucial for Indian families).
  • Post Office savings schemes (NSC, KVP).
  • Vehicle Registration Certificates (RCs) and current insurance papers.

3. Immovable Assets (Real Estate)

  • Property registry documents (Sale Deeds).
  • An official Property Valuation Report from an approved architect or valuer (your CA will need this to put a current market value on older properties).

4. Liabilities (Loans & Debts) You must declare your debts. Hiding them can lead to visa rejection for misrepresentation.

  • Outstanding balance statements for Home Loans, Car Loans, or Personal Loans.
  • Overdraft (OD) or Cash Credit (CC) limit statements.

Why Immigration Rejects DIY Declarations

Many applicants try to create their own “Statement of Wealth” in Excel. Embassies reject these immediately.

Immigration officers require an independent, government-recognized financial expert to verify your claims. A valid Net Worth Certificate must include a UDIN (Unique Document Identification Number) generated by the CA on the ICAI portal. The embassy will actually use this UDIN to verify the certificate’s authenticity online.

Don’t Let Bad Paperwork Ruin Your Study Abroad Dreams

A minor calculation error or a missing UDIN can result in a devastating visa refusal. At Pardeep Jha & Associates, we specialize in drafting meticulously accurate, UDIN-verified Net Worth Certificates that meet the strict standards of all major global embassies.
